From childhood enthusiasm to degree studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź
Today, Louisa Star is an accomplished architect with more than 10 years of experience, but the roots of her passion for architecture go back a long way. Even as a child, she was passionate about watching ‘home makeover’ programmes and leafing through furniture shop catalogues showing sample arrangements. When she was 13, she was allowed to design the interior of her own bedroom under the watchful eye of her mother. The project made the teenager realise how important material combinations, furniture matching the interior and refined details are. As the years went by, the number of ‘family’ projects for loved ones continued to grow. These experiences led Luiza Star to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź.
The courage to take on challenges that boost creativity
Luiza Star opened her own studio shortly after completing her degree in interior architecture. Since 2014, she has been continuously growing and taking on new challenges. Some of the projects that taught her a lot include the interior of an apartment on the edge of Łagiewniki Forest, which stands out for its complexity of detail, along with the transformation of a former bank premises into an office for a company specialising in online furniture sales. In addition to the short deadline, the challenge of this project was the high expectations combined with a relatively low budget. Luiza Star approaches every project as an opportunity to discover new solutions, and she still has enormous passion, unbridled creativity and a desire to get things done.
What values and outlook guide your design work? What are your priorities in creating interior designs?
We always follow a few key principles in our design. The first is beauty, which must go hand in hand with high quality workmanship. Short-lived trends or solutions that will become outdated in a year or two do not interest us. Instead, we focus on timelessness and sustainability. Each project is treated individually – sometimes functionality is given priority, other times aesthetics, but we always strive to ensure that all elements form a harmonious and coherent structure. Our greatest satisfaction comes from seeing our customers happy with their new interiors and exactly what they were looking for.
Do you have a favourite interior design style? If so, what kind?
It’s hard to talk about one favourite style – every project is a new story and a new challenge. In our work, we often resort to classic solutions, which we then combine with modern elements. This approach gives us the greatest scope for creativity. We like to think outside the box and add character to interiors through surprising design combinations.
What are your experiences of working with clients? What do you think is the key to a successful collaboration?
Everything is based on listening carefully to the needs and expectations of clients. They know best how they want to live and function in their space. Our role is not only to make their visions a reality, but also to share our experience and propose solutions that can improve the comfort of everyday life. We believe that only honest communication and mutual understanding lead to the best results.
Can you tell us about one of the most interesting projects you have worked on?
Truth be told, it is impossible to single out one most interesting project. We treat every commission as most important and unique, as each one presents us with new and exciting challenges. What makes our work so inspiring is precisely the diversity of projects and the unique needs of our clients. Sometimes the challenge is an unusual room layout, other times it is the need to juggle the different visions of the household members or create a multifunctional space in a small area. It is the diverse tasks that make each project equally important and inspiring for us, and each realisation teaches us something new. This is where we draw the energy to create even better solutions.

Yes, we do. Consultation is a very flexible form of cooperation, which we tailor to individual needs. They are great for those planning to furnish an interior on their own, as well as those considering a comprehensive project. It is the perfect solution when a client needs confirmation of their ideas or is looking for inspiration before starting a makeover. It also works well whenever budget or time constraints do not allow for a full-scale design service.
