Florkiewicz Studio is an example of perfectly running synergy and the sheer strength of family support. The studio includes the founder, an architect Martyna Pietrzak-Florkiewicz, and her brother-in-law Damian Rybiński, who joined her one year later as business and organisational support. The division of duties ensures that the duo provides a top-quality service, with each project receiving maximum focus and commitment from the architect. As a result, the studio’s portfolio is ever growing with natural, individual and timeless interiors.
Interior designs created with passion – the long journey to start a studio of their own
Martyna Pietrzak-Florkiewicz decided to set up her own interior design studio in 2022. However, the journey to this goal had begun much earlier. She was passionate about art from an early age and it only seemed natural to choose to study for a degree in architecture and interior design. By her own admission, design is not just a job for her but also a hobby, which is why she enjoys taking on new challenges, nurtures her openness and creativity and is keen to find new inspiration.
Florkiewicz Studio – home interior specialists
Martyna Pietrzak-Florkiewicz greatly values a sense of agency in her work. Well aware of the enormous impact of the space around us on our well-being and the way we perceive the world, she approaches each project with great responsibility. Her understanding of the importance of a personalised space came to the fore when she undertook the design of her own flat.
In her work today, she focuses above all on her individual approach to clients and her full commitment, which became feasible after she had handed over some of her responsibilities to Damian – the management specialist. As a result, Florkiewicz Studio creates interiors of authentic homes for investors – bespoke, comfortable, timeless and beautiful.
What values and outlook guide your design work? What are your priorities in creating interior designs?
In life as in design, the most important thing for me is UNAFFECTEDNESS. Each project starts by getting to know the investors and their expectations of their future place to live. We then propose solutions that are as natural to them as possible – not only in terms of surrounding materials or colours, but also in terms of functionality. Our designs reflect people’s habits, routines and way of life, as well as their personal definition of a ‘good interior’. We are firm believers that domestic spaces cannot be the stage set in which we try to play given roles. They need to be an oasis where everyone feels more at home than anywhere else.
Do you have a favourite interior design style? If so, what kind?
Again, in terms of aesthetics, the focus is on the natural. Using fine materials, earthy colours and real structures are most definitely the distinguishing features of our designs. Often, we use modern, minimalist, boho, Scandinavian and also industrial style inspirations as part of the natural aesthetic. We strive to offer our clients solutions that are versatile and timeless, while bringing warmth, harmony and serenity to the interiors.
What materials and technologies do you most like to use in your projects?
We are most keen to use natural materials, of course. Real stone, wood or veneers, linen accessories, natural decorative plasters… Sometimes, however, the budget limits us in proposing such solutions, in which case we look for substitutes that replicate the material as closely as possible and fit in with the client’s budget.
What are your experiences of working with clients? What do you think is the key to a successful collaboration?
I believe that the essential factor in a successful collaboration is getting to know not only the design guidelines, but also the personality, character and way of life of the people who we are creating the interior for. This will guarantee that the designed space is both visually beautiful and functional and maximally adapted to its users.
As soon as we know what the client is like, what they like, what their needs and expectations are, the only thing we need to do to achieve a successful collaboration is to be sufficiently involved in the entire creative process and respectful of the client’s time, their money and the home space entrusted to us. Developing relationships based on commitment and respect helps to build the trust necessary for fruitful collaboration. And this, in our experience, contributes to complete customer satisfaction with the service we provide.
It is also worth mentioning that we monitor customer satisfaction at each stage of the project, asking for feedback from both investors and business partners. All in order to be able to constantly improve and provide some of the best services on the market.
Can you tell us about the most interesting project you have worked on?
The biggest and most interesting challenge I have faced was by far to design interiors for myself. At the point where the architect also has to take on the role of the client, they can fully see how many difficult decisions have to be made and how much time is needed to determine their own preferences. It turns out that extensive knowledge of finishing materials and various design possibilities even becomes a hindrance, as the final choice has to be limited to just one solution! Fortunately, a brainstorming session with my husband helped to clarify the whole concept and to this day, we enjoy the interior that matches our expectations perfectly.
Do you offer a consultation service?
Yes, I do. This is a service for clients who do not need an interior design project, but would like advice from an experienced designer. The extent of the consultation varies depending on the client’s needs. It may include advice on the functional layout of a particular room, the selection of finishing materials based on those already present in the interior, matching the colour scheme in a given space, etc.
